Seeking a Student Wellbeing Support Officer
- 40 years supporting vulnerable youth and their families in Sydney’s west.
- Part time hours, during school term, Parramatta area
- Working alongside children supporting their social & emotional needs
Bridging the Gap has been supporting children, youth and families in Sydney’s west for 40 years. This includes working in public schools providing tailored support for primary aged children, helping them become all they can be through individual support and small group programs.
We are seeking a Student Wellbeing Support Officer to work 3 days a week, during term time, in a school in the Parramatta area.
What we need from you:
- A passion to make a difference in young people’s lives
- Experience working with young people aged 8 – 12 years.
- Available at 3 days per week, during term time.
- A commitment to Bridging the Gap’s Vision and Values
Criteria:
- Qualification – A Certificate IV in Youth Work or a Diploma in Ministry, Chaplaincy, Youth or Welfare, with a degree in education, social work, counselling or psychology highly regarded.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and/or young people.
- Experience facilitating small groups &/or running programs (desirable).
- Demonstrated ability to connect with young people, build relationships and resolve conflict.
- Experience working in a school environment would be an advantage.
- Understanding of issues affecting CALD & ATSI children and young people.
- Strong communicator with a passion for helping children discover their strengths and value.
- Strong organisational and computer skills.
The successful candidate will be required to hold current:
- Working with Children Check (WWCC) for employees.
- National Criminal History (Police) Record check.
