About the job

BTG are looking for an experienced Case Worker to join their team in the Youth Hope Program to work alongside vulnerable young people aged 9-15 and their families addressing child safety issues.

The role is Part Time at 4 days per week (a total of 30 hours per week) and is permanent. Salary will be paid in accordance with the NSW SCHADS Award and this role will be classified at Level 5, pay point to be determined with successful applicant based on skills and experience (please click here for more Award pay rates).

The role is based in St Marys but will require regular travel throughout the region for home visits and other commitments as necessary. Therefore, a current driver’s license and access to a car are required.

Who are we looking for

The right person will have experience working with young people and their families and a passion for making a difference in their lives.

Essential Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification(s) in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or related field
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with vulnerable children
  • Case management experience, including developing case summaries and completing Child Protection reports
  • Experience in completing youth-focused assessments that involve the identification and analysis of safety and wellbeing concerns for the Child or Young Person (CYP)
  • A working knowledge of issues relating to Family Violence, Parental Drug and Alcohol Misuse, Parenting Skills, Child Behaviour Management, Learning Difficulties, Parental Mental Health and Social Isolation
  • Ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) people, organisations and communities
  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound computer and typing skills, including experience in managing electronic files and databases
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Current NSW or National driver’s licence and access to comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Working with Children Check clearance
  • Current Police Criminal Record Check

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience using Structured Decision-Making assessment tools
  • Strong organisational abilities
  • An understanding of family systems theory
  • Working knowledge of the Youth and Family Support sector in the Penrith LGA
  • Flexibility in hours as there may be occasional work after hours
